The Department of Public Safety’s Emergency Communications dispatch center was renovated in 2012, providing the DPS with two phones at each station to increase call volume capacity, improved technology for alarm monitoring, computer-aided dispatching, and internal databases like an electronic phone and ID number directory for SU community members. Camera feeds and phone calls are also now recorded for later reference and time-stamped to monitor response times. The Emergency Communications Center handled 67,245 calls during the 2014 calendar year.
